Referring a patient is easy. Retina Associates of Western NY strives to take the stress out of this process. Therefore, whatever method of referral that is most convenient for you, we can accommodate. RAWNY is an emergency practice. Therefore, there are often same-day appointments available, should your patient require. The items we will require of you:

  • Basic Demographics (including insurance)
  • Diagnosis/Signs & Symptoms
  • Medical Records (CCD File if possible or Fax)
  • When you Would Like Them Seen


RAWNY News

Southern Tier Location Opening May 3rd: We are pleased to announce the opening of a new location in the Chambers Road plaza in Horseheads, NY. Our first day seeing patients in this location will be May 3rd, 2022.

Seeing Patients at our Batavia Location on May 6th: RAWNY is pleased to offer a new office location to better serve our patients where they live. We have leased space in the RRH/Reed Eye Associates building and will see patients from this space on Fridays beginning May 6th, 2022. Referrals to this location will be handled with the same quality and consideration as you have come to trust from our Brighton location.

Past Events

March 23rd, 2022 Dinner and Educational Presentation "Update on Diabetic Retinopathy" presented by the physicians at RAWNY. This presentation will discuss the definition, epidemiology, and current treatments for diabetic retinopathy, including emerging concepts, new treatment paradigms and case studies.  Location: Timberlodge at Arrow Head Golf Course in Akron, NY. This event is open to all Western NY providers.  

January 19th 2022: Rochester Optometric Society Annual Retina Update. This event will be offered virtually. Presentations will include "Cataract Surgery Complications" by Dr. Brian Connolly, "Update on Diabetic Retinopathy" by Dr. Edward Hall, "The Diagnosis and Treatment of Macular Pucker" by Dr. Matthew Witmer, and "Update on Age-Related Macular Degeneration" presented by Dr. Angela Bessette. Inquiries regarding this event may be sent to [email protected] 

Southern Tier Optometric Society Retina Educational Presentation & Dinner on Thursday, October 14th, 2021: This will be an in-person presentation and dinner in Ithaca, NY. Presentations will include "Peripheral Retinal Lesions" by Dr. Brian Connolly, "Treatment of Diabetic Macular Edema" by Dr. Edward Hall, "Laser Injuries to the Retina" by Dr. Matthew Witmer, and "Retinal Manifestations of Systemic Diseases and Medications" by Dr. Angela Bessette.

DRCRRAWNY is proud to be an active participant in DRCR clinical trials. The mission of the DRCR Retina Network is to conduct high quality, collaborative clinical research that improves vision and quality of life for people with retinal diseases. The DRCR Retina Network supports the identification, design, and implementation of multicenter clinical research initiatives focused on retinal disorders.
