Patients with Health Insurance:

If you have one of the listed health insurance plans and provide us with accurate and complete information, we will bill your insurance as a courtesy to you. At the time of your visit, we ask that you pay any applicable co-pay or deductible amounts. All patients with High Deductible Insurance plans will be required to make payment in full at the time of their appointment. Upon receipt of payment from your insurance, we will bill you for any remaining portion of your charge(s). We will make every effort to collect benefits due from your insurance carrier. Please let the office staff know if you have had any changes to your policy and please bring your insurance cards with you to each appointment.

Patients without Health Insurance:

If you do not have a health insurance plan, we ask that you pay in full at the time of your visit. If this is not feasible, you may discuss payment options with our billing manager.

Please note:

One misconception is that your vision coverage (typically a benefit provided by your employer) will cover your visit at RAWNY. This is not true. Our physicians are retina specialists, and all visits are considered "medical," and not routine eye exams. For routine vision care, glasses prescriptions, etc., please see your general ophthalmologist.

All patients with an out of network plan may be subject to a balance after their insurance pays.

At Retina Associates of Western NY, our goal is promote good eye health and enable you to have the clearest vision possible. We accept several types of vision insurance, cash, checks, and most credit cards. We inform our Rochester patients about exam and treatment costs at the beginning of your appointment. If you require a breakdown of costs, please let us know.

Vision Insurance

The knowledgeable staff at Retina Associates of Western NY is experienced in working with vision insurance providers. We will work directly with you and your vision insurer to submit claims regarding your vision care. We strive to ensure that you understand your insurance coverage and will answer any questions you may have regarding your benefits. Many current vision plans are designed to cover many of the basic vision-related costs, but not all costs associated with eye care. Most plans often require a co-payment for an office appointment as well as additional costs that are covered by the insured patient.

Flexible Spending Accounts

Many employers are offering Flexible Spending Account (FSA) options to employees. Sometimes these are referred to as cafeteria plans and are elective, supplemental insurance savings plans. These plans are designed to let you save money in an account, pre-tax, to pay for additional medical expenses such as eye exams, glasses, contacts, and often laser vision surgery. Check with the benefits administrator at your work to see if you are eligible for this program. FSAs can typically be used in conjunction with any vision insurance plan to offset any out-of-pocket costs on your behalf.

Other Payment Options

Our Rochester optometry staff understands that cost is a concern when evaluating vision care providers. We do not want cost to be an obstacle to maintaining proper eye health and good vision. We accept various forms of payment and are able to discuss financing options with you prior to any examination. At Retina Associates of Western NY, we also accept cash, check, and major credit cards.
